LOYALHANNA REVIEW LITERARY MAGAZINE

Loyalhanna Review Publication Party July 24

One of the longest-running literary magazines in the Laurel Highlands is celebrating the publication of its 2021 edition, and all of our members and friends, plus the public, are invited.

Not only will The Loyalhanna Review be back this year, but we will also hold an in-person publication party. (Yes, in the real world!) The 2021 Loyalhanna Review publication party will take place on Saturday, July 24, from 7 to 9 p.m.

Our location this year will be the Hempfield Church of Christ, located at 144 Hugh Black Road in Greensburg, PA 15601. The church is a larger venue than our usual site, the better to socially distance.

Directions: From Route 30 across from Westmoreland Mall, turn north at Dunkin' Donuts and then bear right onto Donahue Rd. At the WOW Outlet, turn right onto Hugh Black Rd. The church is at the top of the hill on the right.

Join us to enjoy hors d’oeuvres and entertainment by Loyalhanna Review authors reading from their work. From an essay on how kids turned chores into entertainment back in the day to a poem about how to cook a possum on a truck engine, you'll be entertained and inspired. You’ll have an opportunity to talk with the authors and artists whose work is featured in the magazine.

Due to the increased costs of buying and preparing food today, the suggested donation is $12 at the door, but no registered guests will be turned away. Each guest will receive a copy of the new Loyalhanna Review, hot off the presses and crammed full of writing and art that will knock your socks off, most of it created by local talent. Help us celebrate the literary life of the Laurel Highlands.

Please register by Monday, July 12: Contact Marge Burke at MCB1776@aol.com or (724) 787-4776.

Special Thanks:

To Authors, Artists, Faithful Supporters, and Fans of the Loyalhanna Review and Ligonier Valley Writers

Special thanks to all the gracious individuals who have continued to maintain their membership and support for Ligonier Valley Writers during the difficulties created by the pandemic. Ligonier Valley Writers intends to move forward with efforts to publish the Loyalhanna Review for 2021. We invite all authors and artists to check the Guidelines and consider submitting work. Those who sent art or writing to the Loyalhanna Review last year are invited to resubmit or send new work.

The generosity of supporters, in spite of the pandemic this past year, enabled us to conduct our Student Poetry and Flash Fiction Contests (minus the fan-favorite Awards Ceremony and the in-person readings). Although shared Covid constraints and curtailed group fundraising may reduce our print run, we are determined that the 2021 Loyalhanna Review will be published. We hope to be able to celebrate our authors and artists in person.

Please check back here and our Facebook page for updates on future events, workshops, and fundraising. We appreciate all of our members and welcome new ones.

Thank you for your continued support during this trying time. If you’d like to support LVW by becoming a member, you can download an application here.

Please stay safe and well,

Officers and Board of Directors of Ligonier Valley Writers

Thank You

This is the twenty-eighth annual issue showcasing many talented local authors and artists. It is through the generosity and dedication of our active members and loyal contributors that this year’s Loyalhanna Review can be distributed to the broader southwestern PA community.

We were touched to see how much the Loyalhanna Review means to so many people throughout our region. We sent out a call for help printing this year’s edition, and many members and friends stepped up to help us afford to print 1,500 copies in color.

Thank you so much!
