Ligonier Valley Writers Calendar 2012

March 19. Student Poetry Contest (Grades 4-12) submission deadline. Download registration forms and instructions from the LVW website.

March 24, 2:00-4:00 p.m. Veteran reporter Rick Gazarik talks about the research he did for his book Black Valley: The Life and Death of Fannie Sellins, about a woman who was murdered during a mine strike in Natrona in 1919. At Ligonier Valley Library.

April 21, 2:00-4:00 p.m. Pitt Greensburg professor Stephen Murabito will teach a poetry workshop for adults at Fort Ligonier.

April 28, 4:00 p.m. Student Poetry Awards ceremony at the Greensburg Barnes & Noble.

May 1. Loyalhanna Review submission deadline. Click the button on the left for guidelines.

May 6, 3:00-5:00 p.m. St. Francis College instructor Lacy Marschalk will discuss writing and publishing at St. Michael’s of the Valley Church in Rector.

July 20, 7:00 p.m. Loyalhanna Review publication party.

July 21, 8:30 a.m.-6:00 p.m. 25^th Annual Ligonier Valley Writers’ Conference. Westmoreland County Community College. Faculty to be announced.

August 14. Deadline for submissions to the Flash Fiction Contest. Cash prizes offered as well as readings of the winning entries. Click the button on the left for guidelines.

August (date TBA), 2:00-4:00 p.m. Author and Artist Book Fair and sale at Ligonier Valley Library. Readings, refreshments, items for sale, and a chance to speak with authors and artists.

September 8, all day. Labor Day weekend garage sale/ flea market. Location TBA.

September 16, 3:00-5:00 p.m. Annual Ligonier Valley Writers picnic at St. Michael’s of the Valley Church in Rector.

October, TBA. Readings of the winning Flash Fiction stories at Hanna’s Town along with a cemetery tour.

November, two performances, dates TBA. Ligonier Valley Writer’s fifth annual interactive murder mystery play, held at the First Reformed United Church of Christ, 312 South Maple Avenue, Greensburg, PA.

December 2, 3:00-5:00 p.m. Annual Ligonier Valley Writers' Christmas Party, St. Michael’s of the Valley Church, Rector.
