Submission Guidelines for The Loyalhanna Review 2012


Submissions for the 2012 Loyalhanna Review will be accepted electronically between February 15 and May 1, 2012. One prose piece, short story, or essay, no longer than 1,800 words, or up to three poems of any length may be emailed following these rules.


Authors: Prose and Poetry

Use Tab to indent. Remove headers, footers, and page numbers.

Use single letterspace between sentences. Do not put a linespace between paragraphs.

Save in Rich Text Format (RTF) in 12-point Times New Roman.

Prose should be double-spaced. Word Count Maximum: 1,800 words.


Artists: Line drawings, photos, etc.

There are no restrictions on medium, style, or subject matter.

Each art submission must have a title.

Submit your work at a minimum of 300 dpi as a JPEG file. The Review’s trim size is 8 ½ by 11 inches. We are looking for the following:


one full-color vertical piece of art for the front cover

one full-color piece, either vertical or horizontal, for the back cover

several full-color pieces, either vertical or horizontal, for the color insert.

several black-and-white pieces of various sizes inside the magazine.


In an email cover letter, please provide:


1) complete contact info: your name, street address, telephone number

2) brief bio (40 words maximum)

3) permission statement


Statement of Permission to Publish in 2012 Edition


In your cover letter, include the following statement of permission to publish:


I grant permission to the Ligonier Valley Writers to use this work until December 31, 2013, for both the print and online editions. I retain all copyrights.
